Abstract
This paper expands on the use of sol-gel derived materials as host for organic molecules which possess nonlinear optical properties. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) modified Si02 is a type of organically modified silicate (ORMOSIL) in which the PMMA is chemically bonded to the SiO, network. The preparation and characterization of bulk samples of PMMA modified Si01 host material and thin films of the host material doped with either 2-methyl-4-nitroaniline (MNA) or Rhodamine 6G are described.© (1989) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
