An Investigation of the Differences Between NaCl and NaClO[sub 3] as Electrolytes in Electrochemical Machining

Abstract
Rates of self‐discharge of porous zinc electrodes in alkaline electrolytes have been measured under a variety of conditions by monitoring the rate of hydrogen evolution. The rate was found to decrease with the addition of lead or mercury to the zinc, the presence of zincate in the electrolyte, and increasing electrolyte concentration up to . Above the rate increased with increasing concentration.
