Abstract
Pods of Pisum sativum at 7 different stages of development were analyzed for total, protein, amino, amide and peptide nitrogen. Protein is first formed, then broken down and transferred to the developing seeds in the form of amide and peptides. The moisture content of the pods has no influence on protein hydrolysis, which, rather, is determined by the metabolic state of the seeds. Keywords
