Pressor activity of renal venous effluent of normal and hypertensive rats

Abstract
The pressor response induced by the renal venous effluent of a kidney grafted to a bilaterally nephrectomized rat has been shown to be a consequence of the unavoidable manipulation involved in the procedure rather than a consequence of the resting rate of secretion of renin as claimed by previous investigators. The procedure failed to demonstrate the presence of a pressor agent in the renal venous effluent of either the normotensive or hypertensive rat.
