Abstract
THE purpose of this communication is to describe a syndrome that involves the hands and feet and is characterized by more than the normal number of phalanges in the affected finger. This feature of the syndrome is called hyperphalangy or polyphalangy and should be distinguished from polydactyly, in which there are more than the usual 5 fingers in the individual hand. No definitive or etiologic name has been applied to the syndrome. Leboucq,1 of Belgium, is credited with the description of the first case in 1896.
