CALCULATION OF DEPOLARIZATION FACTORS IN THE RAMAN SPECTRA OF POLYATOMIC MOLECULES

Abstract
General expressions for the derived polarizability tensor are deduced for non-cyclic molecules having bonds with cylindrical symmetry by assuming the additivity of bond polarizabilities as suggested by Wolkenstein. Full use is made of the Wilson FG matrix technique. As an example, the expressions for the trace and the anistropy for the CX3Y molecular type are obtained explicitly.
