THE EFFECT OF THYROIDECTOMY UPON PANCREATIC DIABETES IN THE CAT

Abstract
16 depancreatized controls and 19 doubly operated animals were used. A slight but statistically significant diminution in glucose and N excretion was observed. Acetone body excretion was reduced but was not found to be significant. The amelioration of pancreatic diabetes by thyroidectomy is slight compared to that produced by hypophysectomy; the thyroid plays a relatively small part in the case of the Houssay animal.
