Abstract
Rats (72) were fed low-I diets plus small amounts of one of several halogen salts[long dash]NaBr, NaBr plus NaI, NaI, NaCl, CaCl2, NaF. Groups fed NaBr (with or without I) or NaI showed an increase in weight of thyroids of 43% over controls; those fed NaF or CaCl2 showed a decrease of 10%. Histologic thyroid structure in NaF, NaCl, CaCl2 groups was normal; NaI and NaBr groups showed variation. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
