Energetic Constraints on Home-Range Size

Abstract
The different energetic requirements of passerines and rodents may explain some differences in home-range size, but the relationship between energy needs and feeding area is not simple and is related to species'' feeding preferences. The measures used are subject to considerable error, both from different techniques employed by different investigators and from the different functions of home-ranges in different species. This error is small in relation to the total variation understudy and there is no reason to suppose that it will bias results in any particular way.
