Abstract
Dried plant or animal material was hydrolyzed with 40% H2SO4 and the cystine precipitated by cuprous chloride as the cysteine cuprous mercaptide. Interfering coloring matter was automatically eliminated in the subsequent treatment. The cystine was finally detd. by the modified Sullivan method. The method is quick and comparatively easy. The cystine content of ordinary veld grass was 20-80 mgm. per 100 gm.This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
