Studies on Heat Resistance

Abstract
The spores of a culture of Bacillus globigii and of a heat-resistant variant derived from it have been tested for resistance to bacterio-static and bactericidal chemical agents. Both cultures exhibited approx. equal susceptibility to the bacteriostatic action of gentian violet, HgCl2, and streptomycin. The spores of greater resistance to heat appeared to possess enhanced resistance to the killing action of iodine and phenol.
