Student and Trainee Attitudes on Aging

Abstract
The study examined and analyzed the attitudes, opinions about, and interests in gerontology and older people held by rehabilitation counseling graduate student's and gerontology graduate trainees throughout the continental United States. Very little cross-curricular knowledge or exposure was evidenced; however, all the subjects expressed considerable interest in the other discipline. All but one group regarded the concept “old person” equal to the concept “average person.” Specific recommendations were made giving emphasis to cross-disciplinary studies.
