A Bloodless Thermal Recording Digital Flowmeter

Abstract

The flowmeter for the human finger consists of an insulated calorimeter cup immersed in a thermal sink. The temperature of the water in the inner cup is kept constant by a thermoregulator and the square of the current is re-corded electrically. The instrument may be calibrated in calories per second or in cubic centimeters per second of blood flow if mouth temperature and calorimeter temperature are used to represent the temperature of arterial and venous blood, respectively.
