ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAPHIC CHANGES IN CEREBELLAR DEGENERATIVE LESIONS

Abstract
Electroencephalographic changes studied in 21 patients with cerebellar degenerative lesions were traced to effects on the cerebello-central connexions. Findings indicate that slow waves and background slowing may occur independently of increased intracranial tension. Related to these observations is the fact that identification of a posterior fossa lesion as space-occupying or degenerative must depend on evidence other than electroencephalography because abnormal patterns are found in either case.
