The suberinic layers of suberous or metacutinized cells of Acacia seyal, Solanum tuberosum and Vanilla planifolia are shown by electron microscopy to consist of fine lamellae. This finding is discussed in relation to Sitte’ s theory of the ultrastructure of such cell walls.
