Abstract
Numerical tables are given which enable the easy computation of the Debye characteristic temperature at 0°K for certain cubic crystals from a knowledge of the elastic constants. These tables are for the range of elastic constant 0≤c12/c44≤3 and (c11—c12)/2c44⩾1. They include the range of elastic constants usually possessed by the alkali halides. A two‐way interpolation formula is also given. Keywords
