RELATIONSHIP OF RENIN TO EARLY RENAL HYPERTENSION IN THE RABBIT

Abstract
23 rabbits with early renal hypertension were given repeated injns. of hog renin at 10-min. intervals until they no longer exhibited a pressor response to it (tachyphylaxis). This resulted in no notable reduction of blood pressure in any of the animals. 13 rabbits with early renal hypertension showed no less of a pressor response to a given dose of renin than did 5 normal rabbits. This evidence does not support the contention that renin is the renal substance concerned in maintaining the elevation of blood pressure in rabbits with early exptl. renal hypertension.
