Abstract
A general and convenient route for the synthesis of cyclopentenone derivatives starting from readily available cyclopentanone via intermediates, 2,2-bis(phenylthio)cyclopentanone, 1, and 2,2-bis(phenylthio)cyclopentanol, 2, was described. Further, it was shown that the hydrolysis of various thioketals was successfully achieved by the use of silver perchlorate.Keywords
