A Remote Controlled System for Capturing Nesting Waterfowl

Abstract
The capture of incubating hens is frequently required in waterfowl nesting studies. Wariness of hens, particularly on exposed sites or in cover where movement of the investigator or the trip wire creates audible sounds, makes it difficult to trap an adequate sample. A remote control system, which was used to capture 31 incubating mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) hens during a 2 mo. period, is described.
