Rigorous feed model for coaxially fed microstrip antenna

Abstract
The input impedance of a microstrip patch antenna with an electrically thick substrate is calculated via a mixed potential integral equation (MPIE) and the method of moments (MoM). Basis functions are used on the coaxial probe. A special attachment mode is employed at the coaxial probeantenna junction. Since no thin substrate approximations are used, there are no theoretical limits on the substrate thickness. Measured and calculated results are compared.
