Abstract
There is patchy loss of phosphorylase and increased mitochondrial activity of white fibers. The necrotic fibers contain acid phosphatase. The myopathy may be partly, but not entirely, due to the antiepinephrine effect of corticosteroids blocking the activation of phosphorylase.
