The Reaction of Ethyl Radicals with Deuterium

Abstract
The reaction of ethyl radicals with deuterium has been studied. The ethyl radicals were produced by photodecomposition of diethyl ketone. As activation energy was found E=13.3±0.5 kcal. From this value it may be concluded that the activation energy is about 11.5±1 kcal for the reaction of ethyl radicals with hydrogen.
