Abstract
A case of acquired intermittent afibrinogenemia with hemorrhagic diathesis is described. The etiological factor was a carcinoma of the prostate with skeletal metastases mainly in the vertebrae. The blood proteins were thoroughly and repeatedly investigated by electrophoresis with the method of Tiselius, but a relationship between the formation of fibrinogen and the various protein fractions could not be established. The mechanism of fibrinogen reduction is discussed.
