Reankylosis of the hip joint in ankylosing spondylitis after total hip replacement

Abstract
A case of osseous reankylosis occurred after total replacement of one hip in a patient having ankylosing spondylitis. Not only did the ankylotic disease involve the vertebral column, but the severity of this process had been manifest through osseous ankylosis of bilateral cup arthroplasties. We believe this to be the first report of reankylosis involving total hip replacement.
