Abstract
The yolk-sac circulation was studied with India ink injn. in rat fetuses. Supply is via an afferent artery which is distr. chiefly to the vitelline villi near the placenta, as a rich plexus of capillaries. The extensive vascularization of the villous portion, and the relative avascularity of the rest of the yolk sac suggest that the former serves an important physiol. function.
