Abstract
We have experimentally investigated the phase diagram of antiferromagnetic GdAl near its spin-flop multicritical point () in the three-dimensional space spanned by the uniform fields and and the temperature . In the plane, () appears as a bicritical point, but as a tetracritical point in the plane. The approach of all six boundaries to () is described by a single exponent . This implies crossover exponents and in excellent agreement with renormalization group theory.
