Abstract
The carotid sinuses of the dog under Pentothal (thiopental sodium) anesthesia were exposed and stimulated by manual compression. Facilitation and occlusion of the cardioinhibitory reflex were demonstrated by comparing the responses of unilateral with bilateral stimulation. An explanation of the results requires the assumption of functional crossing with bilateral stimulation but only ipsilateral conduction with unilateral stimulation in the dog with intact vagi.
