Abstract
ICl3 in CC14 reacted quantitatively with vits. D, the irradiation sterols, vit. A, beta-carotene, and some other substances, to liberate I2. The chemistry and stoicheiometry of the reaction were examined and discussed, and a theory of the reaction mechansim proposed. A method for the quantitative estimation of the vits. D was developed. The detn. has an overall accuracy of [plus or minus] 5%.Keywords
