Penetrating Injuries of the Abdominal Aorta

Abstract
Survival after laceration of the abdominal aorta is exceedingly rare. In this article three successfully managed cases are reported and 18 cases from the literature are reviewed. Aortic control by initial thoracotomy, autotransfusion, andaggressive management of renal and pulmonary complications are emphasized.
