Phosphorus Uptake and Growth of Mycorrhizal and Uninfected Seedlings of Eucalyptus calophylla R. Br

Abstract
Seedlings of Eucalyptus calophylla inoculated with a sample of unsterilized lateritic soil and raised on partially sterilized sand formed abundant ectotrophic mycorrhizas. They absorbed more phosphorus at a lower level of applied soil phosphate than did seedlings raised identically but inoculated with sterilized soil. It is concluded that mycorrhizas have an important role in phosphorus uptake by Eucalyptus.
