Abstract
Calculated and measured relative intensities for three orders appearing simultaneously in the spectrum of an echelette grating at λ 4.211 mm are obtained in both polarizations. Agreement with a calculation based on the Kirchhoff formula is found only for radiation plane polarized with E perpendicular to the grooves. An echelette grating is shown to be a polarizing agent. Keywords
