Abstract
A total of 1,344 Shigella and Shigella-like cultures were isolated in the Mediterranean area. The most commonly encountered types in the order of their frequence of occurrence were: 5. sonnei, S. paradysenteriae; Flexner VI; Flexner II; Flex-ner III; S. dispar, S. alkalescens, S. paradysenteriae, Boyd IV (P274); and S. paradysenteriae, Flexner IV.Keywords
