Abstract
In this paper a research study is described which was conducted in an attempt to determine the relationship between cognitive style and a student's ability to program. The results support the hypothesis that analytic decision makers tend to perform better on programming exams than heuristic decision makers. The sample included thirty-five students in an introductory-level data processing course at a major midwestern university. Keywords
