Determination of lead in roadside soil using anodic-stripping voltammetry

Abstract
The lead content of soil adjacent to roads in Ankara was determined. For digestion several acids and acid mixtures were tried and aqua regia was found to be the most suitable. The lead salt that may be trapped in the silicate crystal lattice was brought into the solution by keeping the soil in acid overnight. To avoid the possibility of the presence of undissolved lead salts even after digestion, EDTA was added to the digested sample in order to ensure quantitative dissolution of lead. The lead content of this solution was determined by anodic-stripping voltammetry.
