Refinement of the B9H15 Structure and Test for Solid Solutions

Abstract
Refinement of the x‐ray diffraction data for B9H15 confirms the structure, establishes an x‐ray criterion for crystal purity, and shows that the most difficult impurity to detect, namely, a possible B8 hydride, is not present in amounts greater than about 5% or so. Taking all observations of the x‐ray investigations together, we conclude that the B9H15 single crystals were essentially pure.
