Glycogen plaques (glycogenic acanthosis) of the esophagus.

Abstract
Superficial filling defects (1-15 mm) were noted on double-contrast views of the esophagus in 3 patients. Endoscopic evaluation with biopsy revealed the presence of glycogen plaques (glycogenic acanthosis) by the esophagus. These plaques have previously been detected only at endoscopy or autopsy. While the clinical significance of this condition is uncertain, glycogenic acanthosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of plaque-like lesions of the esophagus.
