Abstract
A method has been developed for the assay of basic nitrogen compounds by precipitation at pH 3·7 with sodium tetraphenylboron; excess reagent is then determined by back titration with a quaternary ammonium salt. Melting-points of the organic tetraphenylboron salts may be used for the identification of the bases concerned. The method has been applied to the determination of 15 compounds in a variety of pharmaceutical preparations. It compares well in accuracy and speed with existing methods. Keywords
