Abstract
An anatomo-histopathologic classification of specific and nonspecific inflammatory processes of the middle ear leading to tympanosclerosis is presented in patients. The sequelae to otomastoiditis or cholesteatoma are discussed including pseudo-otosclerosis and fixation of the mallear head syndrome. Otomicroscopy, audiometric tests, roentgenography and tomography of the tympanic cavity and mastoid are suggested for diagnostic evaluation.
