Control of hypertension by ethanol renal ablation.

Abstract
Patients (5) underwent therapeutic renal ablation with intraarterial injection of ethanol as treatment for uncontrollable systemic hypertension. All patients either showed complete resolution of the hypertension or improved medical manageability of the hypertension became possible. Ethanol appears to cause permanent renal ablation by cell death while decreasing the risks associated with other embolization techniques.
