Abstract
Spin polarization and spin alignment of angular momenta in hypernuclei are discussed in terms of a distorted wave Born approximation. Hypernuclei produced by (,) and (,) reactions are shown to have sizable amounts of polarization and alignment. They are promising for use in spectroscopic studies of electromagnetic transitions, electromagnetic moments, and weak decays of hypernuclear states.
