alpha-, gamma-, and epsilon-Muurolene, Major Sesquiterpenes of the Wood of Pinus sylvestris L. and of Swedish Sulphate Turpentine.

Abstract

The structures of the major sequiterpene of the wood of Pinus silvestris L. and of Swedish sulphate turpentine, [alpha]-muurolene as well as [gamma] -muurolene were revealed by spectral studies and chemical transformations. The structure of the hydrocarbon previously known as [epsilon]-cadinene has been revised and the name has been changed to [epsilon]-muurolene.
