The rate of diffusion of hydrogen ions through a semi-permeable membrane was studied under varying conditions of sugar concn. The rate of diffusion of the hydrogen ion was decreased in the presence of sugar and the decrease in rate of diffusion was inversely proportional to the sugar concn.
