The Effect of Salicylate on the Oxygen Uptake of the Tubercle Bacillus

Abstract

A strain of Nicotiana tabacum from Maryland contained 95% of its alkaloids as l-nornicotine. As a contact insecticide against the bean aphid, dl-nornicotine was more toxic than dl-nicotine and about as toxic as l-nicotine. Against animals the action of nornicotine was weaker, in one case being only 0.1 that of nicotine.
