Cells of the green alga, Zygnema sp., were centrifuged with different forces and with intervals of time such that the product of "force X gravity" and "time centrifuged" was constant. The chloroplasts moved farther when the force was high and the time short than when the force was low and the time long, thus indicating that the cytoplasm of Zygnema sp. is elastic.
