The patients presented were from the service of Drs. Paul A. O'Leary and William H. Goeckerman, Section on Dermatology and Syphilology of the Mayo Clinic. The preparation of the materials shown was arranged by the staff members of the section. A symposium on lupus erythematosus showed various degrees of the disseminated form of the disease and examples of the discoid form in some of which there had been dissemination. The cases are presented in the order of the severity of the disease. Chronic Lupus Erythematosus Discoides. An unmarried woman, aged 61, reported having had lesions on the face for twelve years, following vaccination for smallpox. She had had ultraviolet and Kromayer light applied with some benefit, and there were radium "cured" spots on the forehead. The case presented the classic picture with the "butterfly" distribution of discoid lupus erythematosus. Moderate dental sepsis and a healed tuberculous lesion of the chest
