Antiferromagnetic Structure of Dysprosium Aluminum Garnet

Abstract
The low-temperature antiferromagnetic structure of Dy3 Al5 O12(DAG) has been established by means of neutron diffraction. The spin arrangement consists of six interpenetrating substructures directed along ±X, ±Y, ±Z, as predicted by Wolf and co-workers. The observed value of the Dy+3 moment is 9.0±0.5 μB, in agreement with the g value obtained from esr measurements.
