Ergotoxine Inhibition of Deciduoma Formation and Its Reversal by Progesterone

Abstract

Single subcutaneous injection 0.25 mg ergotoxine ethanesulphonate in pseudo-pregnant rats at the time of uterine traumatization for inducing deciduomata formation inhibited the development of their reaction. Concurrent injection of progesterone (1 mg) reversed this inhibition. The pituitary-gonad complex is probably involved by hypothalamic response to ergot alkaloid.
