Abstract
This paper explores constructing fractal bowtie dipoles using the pattern of the fractal binary tree. To achieve desirable wide impedance bandwidth, structural parameters of fractal bowtie antennas are optimized in an automated design, making use of the Genetic Algorithm (GA) in conjunction with NEC (Numerical Electromagnetic Codes) and cluster parallel computation. Several design results are presented and exhibit quite promising wideband properties. Their simulated 2:1 VSWR impedance bandwidths range from 3.2:1 to 5.3:1, which far surpass the bandwidth of a conventional bowtie dipole. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
