Hyperfine Structure ofLu176mby the Method of Atomic Beams

Abstract
The hyperfine structure interaction constants of 3.7-h Lu176m in the D322 and D522 electronic states have been measured using the atomic beam magnetic resonance technique. The nuclear spin was found to be 1. After correcting for the mutual perturbations between the two electronic states, we obtain for the D322 state, A=97196440(300) cps and B=635193140(700) cps, while for the D522 state, A=73172850(300) cps and B=781974690(700) cps. These lead to values of μ=0.318(3) nm and Q=2.39(4) b for the nuclear moments. The values of gj are 0.79931(5) for the D322, and 1.20040(16) for the D522 state. Comparing the ratio A52A32 in Lu175 and in Lu176m, one finds a difference in the hyperfine structure anomalies. The ratio B52B32 is the same for the two isotopes within the precision of the presently available data in Lu175.
