Hyperfine Structure and Isotope Shift in the Spectrum of Tellurium

Abstract
Using separated isotopes of tellurium, the hyperfine structure of the Te I and Te II spectra was studied. The magnetic moments of the two odd isotopes were calculated to be μ(Te125)=0.6±0.2 nm, μ(Te123)=0.5±0.2 nm. The ratio of the magnetic moments was determined to be μ125μ123=1.186±0.007. Anomalous shift of the even isotopes was detected in the lines λ4006 (5s5p4P5245p2(P03)6p32) and λ4049 (5s5p4P324[5p2(P13)6p]32). The spacings between consecutive even isotopes in the line λ4006 were as follows: Δ(130128)=0.014, Δ(128126)=0.011, Δ(126124)=0.026, Δ(124122)=0.017, Δ(122120)=0.017 cm1, the component due to the heaviest isotope lying on the largest frequency side. The centers of gravity of the odd isotopes in the line λ4006 were: Δ(124125)=0.002, Δ(123122)=0.000 cm1. λ4049 showed nearly the same isotope effect as λ4006. Regarding the μ values, see the note §.
